Aldgate Gyratory Cycle Counts

January 2002 to March 2003

The Tower Hamlets Wheelers have conducted morning rush hour counts of cyclists using the Aldgate Gyratory system over the past 2 years: on 19 January and 18 June 2002 and 26 March 2003. We believe that the gyratory system acts as a large deterrent to cycling in this area of London.

Use the "point" links below to view the results of the counts taken at the four points around the gyratory indicated on the map.

Point 1

By far the most used route is heading from East to West round the gyratory from Whitechapel High Street onto Braham Street. The number of cyclists using this route has increased markedly in March 2003 from the two previous counts.
