Testimonials

Aneeta - the complete convert

Aneeta, a 28 year old artist from Tower Hill, was terrified of cycling on London roads until she took advantage of the Wheelers' training scheme. She says: "Before I took cycle training, the thought of riding on London roads was incredibly daunting. But I had just one lesson (with London School of Cycling) and now I have bags of confidence.

"I ride my bike for pleasure and to get to and from work. Taking the tube was a real drain on my purse and my spirits. By cycling I'm saving money and I arrive at work feeling happy and ready for the day rather than exhausted from stuffy tubes and delayed trains.

"Cycling also gives me more independence - I can go anywhere I want at any time without worrying about the cost. Now I'm free to explore the capital."

Update: Aneeta has since taken part in a 240 mile charity ride in India!

FJC - riding after 30 minutes

Thank you very much for sending me the information and the training vouchers. I started my first lesson today and have booked two more this week. The training today went well - after 30 mins I was able to cycle by myself for 30 secs or more! Jim the instructor from Bikeworks was an excellent trainer.

With two kids and working part-time I don't think I can afford to pay for the lessons myself - so thanks again for your help.

Julakha - the happy first-time bike rider

Hi, I just want to say a big THANK YOU!! For the first time I was actually able to ride a bike. I had such a big grin on my face. I would like to say, what you guys are doing is excellent & very beneficial. Once again a big thanks to you and Patrick (London School of Cycling).

Shreeti - news lease of life

I just wanted to say a big thank you for putting me in touch with Patrick at the London School of Cycling. He was as good as his word and taught me to ride a bike within 2 lessons!

He is definitely a complete master at this and has the patience of a saint. He is a fantastic teacher and has great way of making you feel not stupid for not being able to do what other people appear to be to able to do naturally! I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

I am now looking to get a bike and start practising on my own, but this has definitely given me a new lease of life and I can't wait to get proficient enough to go out with my whole family!

To anyone out there thinking about doing this - if I can do it - a middle-aged, overweight, time-pressured working mother - then anyone can! The Wheelers Bike Buddy initiative is a great one - keep up the good work!

Becky - confidence boosted

Just to give you some feedback on my cycle training yesterday. I was trained by Rosie at Cycle Training UK. I found the session really helpful - we did quite a bit of cycling on roads and Rosie told me where to position the bike on the road, how to manage junctions etc. Rosie was very patient and explained things very clearly.

I feel much more confident about cycling on roads now that I know what I am meant to be doing and where I am meant to be! I think this is a really excellent scheme - I am trying to encourage as many people as I know to start cycling.

I will definitely be coming out on some of the cycle rides that you organise....

See you soon!
Becky

Brian - useful training

My lesson with Cycle Training went really well, it was extremely useful. I will certainly now try and make it on one of the Wheelers evening rides.

Tanveer - taste of liberation

I had a good session with Patrick of the London School of Cycling on Saturday. I learned how to ride a cycle! With the excitement of my accomplishment, I ended up buying a cycle from Decathlon on Sunday. Thanks once again - it has so far given me the best taste of liberation I've ever had - and believe you me, I've been around, got the scars & the tee shirts!

Mary - more in control

Had my first hour confidence training today. It was great and Patrick was great. Went out solo this afternoon and felt much more in control. Thank you.
Mary

Thank you note from Rehona

To Wheelers

Thank you for opening a whole new world to me. You have given me an opportunity to look at transport in a rather refreshing way!

Learning to cycle has given such a sense of liberation and confidence to my being.

Hope you continue having such a significant impact on people's lives, especially women and more importantly black women like me!

All the best
Rehona

Jenny - more confident

The Cycle Training UK trainer (Rosie) was excellent, very patient and gave a clear explanations of not just what I needed to do, but why I needed to do certain things. The two hours flew by and I really enjoyed the session. I feel more confident on the road and would recommend "Cycle Training" to all cyclists. Once again thanks for your help with organising this.

Clancy - thoroughly recommend it

I got an hour of free training because I have never driven and so often found that I wasn't sure what the safest way to ride was. The training has made a massive difference to my confidence and I would thoroughly recommend it.

I might have given up riding my bike regularly to college if it hadn't been for the free tuition as I had begun to dread part of the route. Now, instead of riding around that nasty junction (or getting the bus!), at least I know how I'm supposed to behave on the road and it feels much safer.
Thanks
Clancy

Julie - huge adventure

I can't thank you and the hugely positive, encouraging, practical, welcoming Wheelers enough for all the help and support you have given me in starting to ride my bike. The training with Patrick (London School of Cycling) was brilliant - he took me right back to basics which was exactly what I wanted and needed. Following that, my bike buddy Buzz was absolutely fantastic. We only did one trip (to my workplace) together but that was all I needed to encourage me to keep going, and after that we kept in touch by email and he answered all my questions and gave me even more encouragement.

I've ridden to work and back about 8 times now, and though I'm still quite nervous at times, I'm making more progress every day. I'm completely obsessed! I could never have afforded to pay for lessons, so without you cycling would literally have been impossible for me.

This has been a huge adventure, and will continue so, as I am just 'not the sort of person' to try to do 'this sort of thing', which is partly why I wanted to do it, and I am finding that the experience has already had positive knock-on effects in other areas of my life too. Thank you so much.
