Events organised by Tower Hamlets Wheelers and supported by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

Below are the events Tower Hamlets Wheelers will be running during this year's Bike Week. All of our events are free and everyone is invited. We particularly welcome those new to cycling and have some easy rides lined up during the week (and the rest of the summer) to help improve your riding and increase your fitness.

19th Saturday 10.00am-4.00pm
Wheelers Bicycle Maintenance Workshop
Limehouse Town Hall, 646 Commerical Road E14 7HA [map]
Special Bike Week edition of our monthly maintenance workshop. Come along and learn how to look after your bike - we've got the all the tools and the know-how. As usual there will be a plentiful supply of tea and cakes as well general cycling advice and chat from Wheelers members.
Puncture class to be held at 11.30am. No booking required.
Bike security marking will be available.

Easy RIDE: Ride to watch Smithfield Nocturne
Meet at Beigel Bake, Brick Lane E1 6SB [map]
A summer evening of bike racing around the historic Smithfield Market. Full details at nocturneseries.com. Join Wheelers for the short ride west to watch five hours of pedalling entertainment.

20th Sunday 9.30am
Easy/Moderate RIDE: Upshire Cream Teas Ride
Meet on top of the Green Bridge, Mile End Park E3 [map]
A day out up the Lea Valley, morning coffee stop at Springfield Marina, lunch at Chingford (bring a picnic or there are plenty of café) and then via Epping Forest to Upshire for tea at St Thomas's Church.
Return via Waltham Cross and then back down the River Lea, about 35 miles in total. Lots of drop out points to stations if you don't want to do the full route. Pace will be slow to moderate and generally flat. On roads, canal towpaths and good tracks so suitable for any bike.

Easy RIDE: Midsummer Madness Ride
Meet at Beigel Bake, Brick Lane E1 6SB [map]
Ride to Primrose Hill to watch the sun come up on the longest day. After stocking up with beigels (Beigel Bake is open 24 hours) we will first ride to London Bridge for 2.30am to meet up with cyclists from all over the capital before heading off to Frith Street in Soho for a coffee stop. Finally, all will ride up to Primrose Hill to watch the sunrise at 4.43am.
Bring warm clothes as it'll get chilly.

Wheelers Cyclists' Breakfast & Dr Bike
Narrow Street at Ropemakers Fields (near The Grapes pub) E14 [map]
Traditional Bike Week event across London - stop by on your way to work and enjoy some free breakfast. Meet with your fellow commuters in Tower Hamlets & Wheelers members. There will also be our Dr Bike service so get any niggling squeaks and rumbles fixed or at the very least get your tyres pumped up and chain oiled!

Easy RIDE: Afterworker Ride
Meet on top of the Green Bridge, Mile End Park E3 [map]
Our ever popular relaxed evening meander around local quiet roads and off-road routes. We will head out east towards Beckton and head back via the Greenway and Victoria Park.

Easy RIDE: The Glamour Ride
Meet on top of the Green Bridge, Mile End Park E3 [map]
The 6th edition of The Glamour Ride glamour-ride.org.uk - who says cycling is all lycra, sweat and bad hair days? Not us! Dress according to your own definition of glamour, decorate either yourself or your bike or both.
In previous years we've had Wonder Woman, toy dogs in baskets and Audrey Hepburn meets Skate Park. Or just bring a glamorous attitude!
It's an easy fun ride heading along quiet roads towards the South Bank, with prize giving and a social at the end. Less than 10 miles.

26th Saturday 10.00am
Easy RIDE: Mile End to Richmond Park Ride
Meet on top of the Green Bridge, Mile End Park E3 [map]
Easy paced ride on mostly cycle routes and quiet roads. About 20 miles total with a tea stop in Battersea Park. Cycle across Richmond Park for some deer spotting then we will find a good spot for a picnic if the weather is good, or a cafe otherwise. Amazing views to be had. Train back from Richmond to the East End.
