East End on Screen
18 June 2003

A blockbuster tour of the many parts of Tower Hamlets used as film locations.
Produced, directed and performed by Keith Jones. Rated PG.

This ride was the box office smash of the year. Not only a great ride around the borough, showing us handy short cuts and routes avoiding the main roads but he passed on the most incredible amount of information about film and cinema history in the East End.

17 of us were privileged to be present at the premiere screening of this Wheelers production. Admission tickets were distributed, the lights dimmed, the reels started rolling and we were entertained with highlights of the films, actors, actresses and directors that have graced locations in Tower Hamlets. With quality trivia snippets and personal experiences of the boroughs cinemas and "when the stars came to town" thrown in, the audience were glued to the screen until the last credit had rolled.

To round off, based on our admission ticket numbers, one lucky Wheeler won tickets for the Genesis cinema on Mile End Road and we all got an "East End on Screen - the making of" info pack - great stuff! And the best thing about it all? - Keith didn't have time to fit in all he had to say so there will just have to be a sequel! :-)
