BIKE WEEK HITS THE EAST END
- 12 to 20 June -

EAST London cycle group, the Tower Hamlets Wheelers, will be kicking off bike week with a Cycling Fun Day in Victoria Park on Sunday, June 13, from 12 o'clock until 4.

The day will encompass activities for all ages and abilities, including a cycling obstacle course, slow bicycle races and the opportunity to get your bike tuned up.

Events will continue throughout the week, including easy rides around the borough's parks and canals - ideal for those new to cycling, hearty breakfasts for commuting cyclists, and culminating with a Family Pedalling Picnic starting in Mile End Park on Father's Day, Sunday, June 20.

Sun, 13th: Wheelers Cycling Fun Day
12-4pm, Victoria Park (Royal Gate East, Grove Road, near Royal Inn on the Park pub.)
Start Bike Week with the 3rd Wheelers Cycling Fun Day. There will be a 'Dr Bike' stand so you can get your bike tuned, an obstacle course to test your bike handling skills, slow bicycle races, security bike marking, a cycling information stall and more.

Mon, 14th: Lazy Lea Valley Ride
6.30pm Green Bridge, Mile End Park
Start the week with an easy evening ride up and back down the Lea Valley. This will be a very relaxed ride arriving back at Mile End Park at dusk.

Tue, 15th: Royal London Hospital Cyclists' Breakfast
8.30-10.30am, Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel Road (opposite Whitechapel tube)
Wheelers will join the Royal London Hospital in promoting cycling as part of their NHS Trust's travel plan. Breakfast will be available for Trust members of staff arriving by bicycle.

Wed, 16th: Wheelers Cyclists' Breakfast, Narrow Street
7.30-9.30am, Narrow Street at Ropemakers Fields (near The Grapes pub) E14
Traditional Bike Week event across London - stop by on your way to work and enjoy some free breakfast. Meet with your fellow Tower Hamlets commuters, Wheelers members, councillors and council transport officers.

Wed, 16th: Easy Evening Ride,
6.30pm, Green Bridge, Mile End Park
This will be an easy evening ride taking in the borough's canals and parks, finishing at dusk.

Sun, 20th: Family Pedalling Picnic,
10.30am Green Bridge, Mile End Park
This easy ride will travel down to the southern tip of Tower Hamlets then meander back around the borough ending up at Victoria Park for a picnic. The route will follow the canals, riverside and quiet streets stopping off at places of interest.
It's Father's Day so bring the whole family and of course a picnic!

21st Monday 2.00am, Midsummer Madness Ride
Beigel Bake, Brick Lane E1
Ride to Primrose Hill to watch the sun come up on the longest day. We will first ride to London Bridge to meet up with cyclists from all over the capital before heading off to Soho for a coffee stop. Finally, all will ride up to Primrose Hill to watch the sunrise at 4.43am
