TOWER HAMLETS BICYCLE SECURITY REGISTRATION EVENT

- 24 November 2007 -

Police officers from the Limehouse Safer Neighbourhood Team will be on hand to register and security mark bicycles on Saturday, 24 November from 11am-3pm at Limehouse Town Hall, 646 Commercial Road.

They are joining in with the Tower Hamlets Wheelers regular bicycle maintenance workshop to provide guidance about how to effectively lock your bike and give out general security advice.

Owen Pearson, co-ordinator of Tower Hamlets Wheelers said "Many stolen bicycles are recovered by the police but tracing who they belong to is often impossible. A bike that is listed on a national register makes it easier to reunite it with its owner".

Wheelers volunteers will also be on hand to give tips about how to keep your bike in the best possible working order throughout the winter months.

The event is free and refreshments are provided. To find out more visit www.wheelers.org.uk/workshop
