Notes from Wheelers AGM held on 9 March 2005
at Limehouse Town Hall, Commercial Road E14

1. Introductions

All introduced themselves and were welcomed to the AGM.


2. Lucy Davis, LCC Community Cycling Officer

Lucy gave an overview of her role within the LCC and gave an update on the recently launched Jagonari Cycles project.


3. Wheelers Annual Reports (brief summaries)

Media
Newsletter: Carol Gray (editor) and Steve Bradley (design & print) produced the newsletter during 2004 - many thanks! Gary Cummins took over in December 2004.
Website & Egroup: In 2004 the site had about 40,000 hits and 10,000 visitors. The egroup currently has over 150 members.

Finance
Balance at 31 December 2004: £7687.82

Funding/Grants Awarded:
Department for Transport £851.61 (bike buddy scheme)

Campaigns
Main focus has been sale of stolen bikes at Brick Lane market.

Events
Bike Week 2004 included: Cycling Fun Day in Victoria Park, Cyclists Breakfast, Pedalling Picnic plus several easy evening rides.
Provided Dr Bike at London Bikeathon. Attended Get Moving event in Mile End Park and the Spitalfields Community Festival.

Rides
Almost 40 rides were organised during 2004, ranging from easy trips around the borough via towpaths and parks to 100-milers out and around London. There was another succesful programme of summer evening rides.

Workshop
Increasing in popularity, on average 10-15 attendees. Always a useful and enjoyable event. A note of thanks for the support and co-operation of the Boxing Club members at Limehouse Town Hall for its continuing success.

Bike Buddy Scheme
80 people have applied to join the scheme and received the information pack. 32 have attended professional cycle training. 13 bikes have been recycled and supplied to scheme members. Over 85% of members are female.


4. Election of Committee Posts

Philip Loy took over as chair for this section of the meeting. Posts were elected in accordance with the Wheelers constitution.

Guest Speaker: Jenny Jones

Jenny spoke about policing, road safety, routes to school programme, background to "how things work" at the London Assembly before answering questions.


The meeting closed at 9:00pm and was followed by a social with drinks and nibbles.
