Minutes of last meeting approved

 

Keith chairs meeting, and introduction of members present and brief talk on history of St Margaret's and building.

- Make more obvious Borough Membership when people join LCC. LCC to be contacted.

 

Reports:

Bike Buddy scheme - Caroline Fenton

Bike Buddy coordinator & Maintenance Workshop: Mixture off people self funding & funded for bike buddy scheme.
Most workshop tools have been needed.

Workshop on Grove Lane Vicky Park good going event. Very Good.

Dr Bike at Bikeathon for Leukemia research. 4 people Volunteered.



Campaigns - Colin Waters

Confirmed he would be stepping down as campaigns officer, with immediate effect.

Joint police Ventures Earlier in the year, at cyclist education events, on Hackney Road, columbia Market & Tesco Bethnal Green road.

Newsletter Handouts 10,000.

Colin announces moving to Lambeth borough.

 


Finances - Treasurer David Alison

Spent £6100 mostly on Bike Buddy Scheme
Earned £5000
Some Cycle trips small profit.
Looking for funding 2007 from various bodies.

 

 

Newsletter - Ralph Withers

Going very well. Slight profit. LCC will do some printing. Only 400 need printing for this.

Spitalfields environmental event
City for Trees king Edward memorial Park
Successfull. Not enough people outside counters to help out.

Many attendees are from workshop users.

Intending to do more mealer events.

No expenditure.

Apologies mid summer weekend.

Bikeathon, Eco Fare Spitalfields, more volunteers needed.

Noted nowhere in Tower hamlets where all events are advertised.

 

 
Rides and socials - Steve Collins

Thankyou to all those people, that led rides last year, and put the work and effort into their routes.

New ways to inform people about rides need to be devised.

Speaker Jim Blakemoor from Bikeworks

Talk on setting up and what Bikeworks is about.

Summary:

Community cycling non profit social enterprise.
Last 6 months secured premises in Mile End park, a BMX Skateboard park preposed to go next to location. Pushing for this to go ahead.
To cover Disability cycling (pedal Power affiliated themselves to Bike works) after they where booted out of Eastway for olympic site to be built.
Just got contract for cycle training, and has had to push the council to allow this.
Looking toward working with THW too.
Sales repair service, work for long term unemployed.
Will have charity status to generate funding as well.
Pilot bicycle recycling projects.
Set up a cycle training Data base.

Owen wheelers Coordinator is on bBkeworks committee as is Jo Roach from Pedal Power.

 

Other business:

Wheelers branding to use new logo. Embroiderer on Whitechapel road, ask Jim for contact.

Will arrange a special meeting for bike week.
