1. Minutes of last meeting
No written minutes to review as previous meeting was only attended by 3 people.
2. Launch of Wheelers Wiki
At the previous meeting the use of a Wiki to facilitate planning and co-ordination was discussed. It was decided to take this forward. Initial ideas for how it could be used were:
-Availabilty of people to help at workshop and events
-Rides calendar
-Whereabouts of Wheelers equipment including leaflets
-Cycling scheme proposals for comments
Noted that we would need to in some way control who could post on it.
Action - RL to take this further and send something in the first instance to committee members and other regulars.
3. AGM
To be held on Wednesday 8th April
Refreshments - DT and PB (either take food along or ask cafe to provide something)
Room - book St Margarets (although presumably it will be the smaller room), try to get it until 21.30 (OP)
Invite guests - suggestions were Koy Thomson, James Scott (Sustrans), Sam Margolis, Jim Blakemore. Possible "panel" with questions related to cycling in TH and the role for THW. (CF + OP)
Send out notice of meeting including brief description of committee posts
4. Events and rides
Outline plan produced at meeting. Rides will be published in next few days as far as end of May, and further dates and ideas will go on the Wiki.
Agreed that we should be selective about event attendance and only go to those which we believe to be worthwhile, also try to review afterwards. On the list so far:
-London Bikeathon
-Spitalfields Green Fair
-Trees for Cities (Shadwell)
-Arnold Circus day
-Council car free day (if there is one!)
-Freewheel (depending on arrangements)
5. Narrow Street 2 way proposals
Comments received from RW and Mick O'Rorke (many thanks) - just need to check whether Owen has sent our response.
6. Workshop
Police security marking at next workshop (28th March)
Check availability with Boxing Club (OP)
7. Movers and Shakers campaign
Rob will write a submission for a bid for this (following Wandsworth example). To be done with support from TH Council
8. Olympics routes and legacy issues
Steve and Gerry have expressed interest in following this.
9. Finance
DA explained that Wheelers need to open a new account with the Unity Bank as this is the chosen banking service for all LCC entities (central and borough groups) The mandate to open the account was duly completed - with Dave Allison, Ralph Withers and Owen Pearson as signatories (OP signature added post meeting). At this stage we do not propose to close our existing Alliance and Leicester account until we have reviewed how well the new account works, particularly the internet banking facility.
10. Isle Of Dogs cycling improvements
RL brought a very large map of the IOD to use to identify cycling improvements eg cut-throughs, two way cycle lanes, general routes and signing, drop kerbs, cycle parking. Alongside the Bike It initiative in all IOD schools there is a plan by the council to focus on this area for other supporting improvements. Some work has already been done by committee members living in the area (RL, CF, DA and OP) but it was also agreed to take the map to the workshop and advertise that it would be there for people's comments.
11. May meeting
Agreed that due to non-availability of several regular attendees/current committee members on the second Wednesday we should bring the meeting forward one week to 6th May.
Meeting Ended at 21.00
