Monthly Meeting Minutes

Wednesday, 14 December 2011 7.30pm
Held at St Margaret's House, 21 Old Ford Road.

1. Workshop
This Saturday, 17th.  Rob to pick up kit in the trike.  


2. Rides
Final ride of the year completed with 23 attending the Christmas ride.

Annual stats: 831 miles covered over 26 rides in 85 hours with total elevation of 24148 feet (not including Eastbourne weekend away)
Longest ride: 70.8 miles London to Brighton

Thank you to all who have helped out leading and marshalling rides throughout the year.

Richard also emailed to say "A big thankyou to you all for organising such brilliant rides & events this year. Looking at the website, the range of activities is extraordinary."

January rides have been entered on the website now.


3. London Cyclist magazine

ACTION: Bob to put together LC borough news text.


4. Newsletter

Draft issue to be ready by January meeting (11th).

ACTION: Bob to start chasing articles to pass on to Rob.


5. Movers & Shakers Project

Meeting recently held with Rob, Sam at LBTH and Alix at Transport Initiatives.  Problem with funding not being spent and progress being slow.

Discussion about issues with the project, reasons for lack of take up.  No answers.

There is a suggestion to purchase a Brompton to loan out to those who join the project - all greed.  Money could also be spent on cycle training as council adult training budget now finished.

ACTION: Rob to send round minutes of meeting.
ACTION: Alix & Rob to buy a Brompton.


6. New Year social

Date chosen to be Friday, 27 January and will ask Vesuvio's if they will have us again.

ACTION: Owen to organise.



7. Safer lorries

Gerry chasing up LBTH council on whether they are members of the Freight Operative Recognition Scheme (FORS).

Gerry attended joint Hackney council and Hackney Cyclist HGV Working Group meeting.


8. LCC "Go Dutch" campaign

Suggested those in Tower Hamlets who have signed up as "champions" of the Go Dutch campaign give a presentation about it at the January meeting. Gerry has preliminarily asked them and they are up for it.

ACTION: Owen to follow up.


9. Cycling Rangers Project

Before this meeting a Cycling Rangers meeting was held to launch the new online version for submitting audits and cycle parking suggestions.


10. Engineering Sub-committee

Engineering sub-committee being set up.  Gerry asks if any others would like to join.

ACTION: Gerry to liaise with Owen/Neville/Rob about setting up email group.


11. Campaigns Officer

Propose that Gerry's title is changed from Special Projects to Campaigns Officer.  All agreed.
