Monthly Meeting Minutes

1. Finances

A call from the treasurer for all to get expenses in to him.



2. Workshop

Next one on Saturday, 21st.  Owen and Aneeta away, Mr Jones to do the honours opening.



3. Events

Arnold Circus event went well.  Keith and a couple of Bikeworks mechanics did a Dr Bike on the Saturday with about 30 bikes worked on.

Suggestion LBTH are contacted to suggest similar Dr Bikes are held around the community estates.

ACTION: David T to contact Rob/John at LBTH.


St Barnabas Community Fete is on Saturday, 8 September.

ACTION: Owen to organise.

Review of our events: reasons for going, leaflets and information we provide and then post-event feedback.  



4. Cable Street workshop

A workshop was held at Royal Foundation St Katharine on 2 July to discuss options for the Cable Street cycle route.  Eight attended including reps from Wheelers, LCC and Hackney Cyclists.  Thanks to Gerry for organising.

The basis for this came about from the junction review programme being carried out by TfL.  THW decided to get ahead of the game and start getting down ideas and thoughts.

The next stage will be to continue collating research, bus routes etc. and produce a report.

THW engineering egroup to be used to continue this work.



5. Council liaison

With the impetus of the Cable St workshop David T suggests we should properly re-establish our links with LBTH transport department.  Over the last few years we have drifted away from being fully consulted on road schemes.

ACTION: David T to contact Mayor and Head of Transport.



6. Rides

Ride programme ongoing.  Discussion whether to do any afterworkers over the next couple of months.



7. Newsletter

Next London Cyclist deadline is Monday 23 July.

8. ODA bike rides

Keith asks if interest from any others volunteering to lead early rides being run by on behalf of the ODA by Bike Buddies.



9. Greenwich Foot tunnel

Postponed until next again.



10. River Lea towpath closure demo

Gerry attended the demo against the tow path being closed from 3 July until end of Paralympics.



11. Cycle accidents

Refer to LCC in terms.



12. Bow roundabout developments

Gerry suggests LCC junction review meeting.



Meeting ended at 9.02pm
