Everyone said hello.
2. Matters arising from last meeting, 20 October 2004
New venue courtesy of Youth Action UK and popular with all present. Owen to pass on note of thanks to YAUK staff.
All other outstanding matters to be covered in following items.
3. Finances
We received our annual LCC grant of about £250 which cancels out the latest Bike Buddy training invoices that have been paid so still have around £8000.
4. Bike Buddy & Cycle Training Scheme
A couple more joined the scheme in the last month.
David has submitted a report to the DfT as required for their Cycle Projects funding. Stats that Dave produced showed that applications from the Asian community were under-represented for the borough. It was agreed that we need to try to up the promotion of the scheme to this community.
ACTIONS:
Buzz to get Bike Buddy promo poster translated into Syhellti and Benghali. Owen to supply copy to Buzz.
More follow up on Cycle Training's prices - they charge £35 per hour but minimum booking is for 2 hours although complete beginners get 1.5 hours. Owen to double check that the 1.5 hours are charged at a reduced rate. London School of Cycling is preferred option for trainees on price and flexibility of holding separate one hour sessions.
Jagonari Centre: No progress to report.
ACTIONS:
Owen _still_ to make a start on follow-up questionnaire to assess usefulness of scheme, progress of scheme members etc.
5. Workshop & Bike Re-Cycling
Workshop:
October workshop went well though Keith reported that some of our tools/kit is missing as a result of art projects taking place at the workshop premises. It was suggested we could purchase a lockable cupboard to leave at the Town Hall.
The next workshop is on 27 November 2004. Keith will hold a puncture repair class.
ACTIONS:
Owen/Keith to publicise workshop/puncture repair class.
Owen/Keith talk with the Boxing Club about cupboard idea.
Bike Re-Cycling:
Dave and Caroline currently have 3 bikes suitable for bike buddy members and Gary has one.
Owen contacted by HM Treasury offering bikes abandoned in their cycle shed.
