Medium paced ride to the seaside at Southend. Meet at Upminster station at 09:30, then follow the lanes to Southend, via Hanningfield and Wallasea Island. Lunch at Hanningfield, at the Fishing Lodge cafe, or bring a picnic - there are picnic tables by the lakeside. We'll try to get a couple of tea stops in as well, probably at Thorndon Country Park and Wallasea Island. We'll probably return from Leigh on Sea or Benfleet, as the ride along the seafront is good - but you can go back from Southend if you're short of time. Total distance about 50 miles and the train fare back will be about £5 per person if you get a group-save deal.
There are C2C trains from Limehouse at 08:54, arriving 09:12 and 09:14 arriving 09:32. We'll wait for anyone arriving on the 09:32. The District line is running, so you could also use that from Mile End. Upminster is in zone 6, so you can use an Oyster card on either C2C or the Underground. view on bikehike.co.uk">See the route on bikehike
