Lea Valley & Epping Forest ride 18 June 2005
My oh my, what a day for riding a bike and what a ride Steve put on
for us on Saturday! About 12 set off from the Green Bridge, picking
up another on the way heading up the Lea Valley to Waltham Abbey and
across to High Beach in Epping Forest via the unforgiving Wellington
Hill.
After lunch we were led along the endless easy and picturesque
trails through the forest before a well earned tea/ice cream/cold
drink stop. It was then a short stretch on roads through Chingford
before back onto the Lea and a meandering journey back down south to
Victoria Park.
It was the forest trails that were the revelation and highlight for
all - fantastic route reccing by Steve! I even managed to lose my
trusty camera along the towpath (thanks again Gary for the help with
the searching) but that wasn't going to put a downer on such a great
day out (so see below for pics from Buzz).
By Victoria Park we'd done a shade under 40 miles, just the right
amount - marvellous.
