Wheelers Tube Strike 'Bicycle Bus'

25 September & 2 October 2002

On the two tube strike days Wheelers offered a 'bicycle bus' ride to accompany newcomers to cycling through the borough to the City. Starting at Bow Road tube station the 'bus' followed the District Line along quiet roads parallel to Mile End Road and Whitechapel Road calling at Mile End, Stepney Green, Whitechapel and Liverpool Street stations.

Unfortunately we didn't attract any new faces but we got great media coverage: On 25th September we were featured on BBC Radio Essex's breakfast show and on 2nd October on BBC Radio London's Danny Baker show and on BBC London TV evening news.
