Bow Liveable Streets
- There has been an event organised by the loose coalition of Let Bow Breathe to launch their campaign in support of the proposals. This event will take place at 11am on Skew Bridge (Old Ford Road) on Saturday 11th July.
- There is a WhatsApp group for Let Bow Breathe where leafleting plans and suggestions for campaigning is taking place.
- There is a Cyclescape thread now up, it will be good to have as many people responding with their ideas as possible so we can start to draft our response.
- It is noted that there is a lack of a contraflow on the east part of Old Ford Road (near the bridge) which we should enquire about.
- We need to make sure we submit a response as a community group and encourage all other coalition partners of the Better Streets for Tower Hamlets campaign to do the same.
HubBub
- HubBub is an organisation that looks to create positive environmental change through collaborating from grassroots to boardroom level. They base their campaigns on research and insights.
- They have some funding available to run a community based campaign and are looking to focus in the Bow area.
- If anyone has any ideas, please email Ray Hopkinson at ray@hubbub.org.uk
Isle of Dogs
- Luuk has submitted a number of ideas to the councillors on the Isle of Dogs and is trying to gauge how ambitious they are being with new cycling/pedestrian schemes.
- From our understanding TH have secured £100k for temporary measures.
- DfT tranche 1 funding has to be spent by the 1st August.
- DfT tranche 2 funding was due out last week but has not yet come out.
- ACTION Terry to cycle down to Butler Row/Cable Street where the new planters are to see if the signs about the cameras are in place & being enforced.
- It is important that whenever a school street or filter goes in that we send a thank you email to the councillors for doing such an intervention.
Dr Bike
- Keith ran a Dr Bike at the Royal London Hospital on 2nd July.
- It was a good success overall with both hospital workers & construction workers making the most of the opportunity.
- We promoted free LCC membership for NHS workers which a lot of staff were already aware of due to the hospital promoting it to their own staff.
- We should look to do more of these Dr Bike pop ups in the future as they are a really good way to engage with the local community.
Old Ford Road Liveable Streets
- Pre-consultation workshops are now live to sign up to. There are 3 different sessions and will be held online.
Social
- A proposed drink in a pub garden or whatever people feel comfortable doing has been proposed.
- ACTION Julie to circulate idea
Committee Change
- This is Alex’s last meeting before he moves to Brussels and has started to draft a handover document
- Everyone on the meeting wanted it to place on record our sincere thanks to Alex for all his energy & campaigning skills that he has brought to the group.
AOB
- If you haven’t completed Megan’s survey for her PHD, please do so as it closes on the 12th July.
