Wheelers' London to Brighton
This year's edition of the Wheelers' London to Brighton ride. Starting with a gentle route over the North Downs, and lunch at Lingfield (choice of eating places). Then on to Ditchling Beacon and down to Brighton. Time for a beer or cup of tea on the beach before getting the train back to London.
Expect rolling terrain and a couple of big hills, but don't worry we'll ride as a group and wait at the top of all the hills. Suitable for all types of bike (gears recommended!), all welcome. Rated hard for the number of hills but we'll have at least 2 tea stops en route.
Two options if you want to join us;
1) The full route; Meet at 08:30am at Cutty Sark Gardens (outside the foot tunnel entrance). We'll ride via fairly main roads to Orpington and from there onwards on quiet country lanes. Total distance 65miles.
2) If you want to skip the urban sprawl, shorten the distance and start a bit later there will be a second meeting point at 09:45am at Orpington station. Trains to Orpington are every 15 mins, and take 15mins, from London Bridge and you can use Oyster PAYG. Meet on the Western side of Orpington station. Total distance 53miles.
Tickets back from Brighton cost £10 (or £5 if we can get groupsave tickets).

Rides information
Our rides are highlighted by "RIDE". You don't have to be a member to join in and we're also always looking for new ride ideas. Contact our Rides Co-ordinator for further information.
There is no need to register beforehand for a ride unless this is specifically stated, most rides are "turn up and go".
If you haven't ridden with us before please read our Ride Guidance Notes.
Please note that for train assisted rides we often cannot publish times until about 2 weeks beforehand because of the need to check engineering works. Also sometimes our ride leaders do have to change dates/times/routes at reasonably short notice. Generally this website will be up to date and also details will be sent out to our email groups, but if in doubt contact the ride leader or our rides co-ordinator to check arrangements.
