Ride Report

A lovely Wheelers river ride chasing singing ships last night. Rode to the magical Trinity Buoy Wharf - housing London's Last Lighthouse where the various ships were waiting to start their 1513 A Ships' - the star was the light ship - a floating lighthouse but the prima donna was the steam ship with her textured puffy sounds and steam, also part of the cast were tug boats and a clipper with her bell. After the first amazing aria the ships started up river and we followed along by bike - and joined them on the water at Canary wharf where we took the ferry to Rotherhithe Hilton from whence we hugged the Thames path and cycled with ships chugging silently along to our right. We reached Tower Bridge exactly at the same time as the ships - indeed they arrived a tad earlier and sort of waited for us and for the bridge to open and let them through. At the bridge they performed their second magnificent aria joined by the Belfast and her cannons and other ships. This part of the opera lasted about an hour after which we waved the ships away as they sailed past back to where they came from.
Thanks for the magical river night.

Rides information

Our rides are highlighted by "RIDE". You don't have to be a member to join in and we're also always looking for new ride ideas. Contact our Rides Co-ordinator for further information.

There is no need to register beforehand for a ride unless this is specifically stated, most rides are "turn up and go".

If you haven't ridden with us before please read our Ride Guidance Notes.

Please note that for train assisted rides we often cannot publish times until about 2 weeks beforehand because of the need to check engineering works. Also sometimes our ride leaders do have to change dates/times/routes at reasonably short notice. Generally this website will be up to date and also details will be sent out to our email groups, but if in doubt contact the ride leader or our rides co-ordinator to check arrangements.
